CONCRETE REPAIRS AND WATERPROOFING OF LEAKING ROOF SLAB
JK RANDLE CENTRE OF YORUBA CULTURE & HISTORY, ONIKAN, LAGOS 2024
BACKGROUND
The structure had been experiencing persistent leaking issues.
Upon thorough inspection, it was found that the concrete roof slab had weak areas, particularly evident in the form of cracks on the surface as a result of the failed waterproofing membrane previously applied. These cracks served as entry points for rainwater, exacerbating the leakage problem. There were also leakages along the linear joint of the slab, causing water from the soil to be absorbed by the slab. The nylon membrane installed before placing the soil has failed, especially at the joints. This failure is allowing water to penetrate the slab at these vulnerable points.
SOLUTION
The solution provided by CLL includes removal of existing membrane and screed along the joints, surface preparation and treatment with Kyrstol T1/T2 waterproofing system and re-screeded the treated area with Bauer Monoflex. The Cracks on the wall and the joints were treated with Krystol Crack/Joint System which effectively sealed the cracks to prevent any potential leakage. Additionally, Pipe Penetration was treated using Krystol Pipe penetration treatment.
